Campus community,
This morning, Longwood sent to campus a Clery Timely warning regarding an alleged sexual assault on Garden Street under investigation by Farmville Police. This evening, I’m writing to share with you that over the course of today, Longwood’s Title IX Office and the Longwood Police Department have received reports regarding three additional alleged assaults recently in campus housing — one early last week and two separate alleged incidents Saturday night/Sunday morning.
None of these reports are believed to be related. However, the number of reports in one week is unusual and troubling. I wanted to make sure you heard about them from me directly, and also that we are taking them extremely seriously, investigating carefully and offering those who have made reports resources and support.
Any student who reports a sexual assault has resources and support available from Longwood’s Title IX office. Counseling and Psychological Services is here for students who are impacted by sexual assault. For detailed information about those support services, about reporting options, and about how the Title IX office works in cooperation with campus and local police as well as the student conduct system, please visit www.longwood.edu/titleix.
