Please be aware that Farmville police, in coordination with Longwood University police, are actively investigating a report of repeated sexual harassment in the area of South Virginia Street (the area behind McDonalds) involving a non-student described as a light skinned, middle aged male.
LUPD reminds everyone to be aware of their surroundings and walk in groups, especially at night, and report any suspicious activity to Longwood police at 434-395-2091 or Farmville police at 434-392-3332.
Victims of sexual harassment have advocates on campus. The Title IX coordinator is Sasha Johnson, and her office can be reached at titleix@longwood.edu.
Please be aware that LUPD officers responded to an alleged assault involving a Longwood student this afternoon on Main Street near campus. The suspect, who is not a student, also assaulted a Longwood police officer before being detained and is now in custody. If you have information about the incident, please contact the Longwood University Police Department at 434-395-2091.
Longwood community,
Water pressure is returning to Longwood, and we will proceed with opening campus buildings at 12 noon.
Because of the town's boil water advisory that is in place, do not use campus water fountains or kitchenettes today.
Longwood community,
The town of Farmville has located the source of the water leak and resolved the issue. Pressure is being restored to town and campus, and will continue to rise toward normal levels throughout the day.
We expect to be able to open Longwood's campus buildings at 12 noon today. We will confirm this in a status update by 11:15 a.m.
If you are on campus, please do not use the water fountains today. Farmville has issued a boil-water advisory for all tap water.
Information from the Town of Farmville (please visit
farmvilleva.com for status updates from town):
Be advised the town is currently experiencing a water issue. Public Works is out investigating the issue at this time. While they are out, you may experience a water outage or low water pressure.
Due to the water issues here in Town, please refrain from using your hot water. This will drain your hot water heater, and it can potentially cause your heating element to burn up and damage your tank. Please check our Facebook page through the day for continuing updates.
Due to the town wide water outage, Town Offices will be closed on Monday, June 7, 2021.
We will update everyone as soon as more information is known. Thank you for your patience.
Longwood community,
Please be aware that Farmville Police have responded to a report of shots fired just before 10 p.m. tonight off-campus near the intersection of Buffalo and Third streets. There are no injuries and no Longwood students involved. Farmville Police continue to investigate and LUPD is assisting. If you have any information about the incident, please call Farmville PD at 434-392-3332.
