Because of the impending storm system, Longwood will close at 2 p.m. today. Please travel safely if you plan to leave campus.

Ahead of today's impending storm system, the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Prince Edward County. As a precaution, cars that are parked in flood-prone areas, particularly the Virginia Street lot behind Midtown Landings, should be moved to either the Putney St. lot or the upper Wynne tiers. Commuters who typically park in the Virginia Street lot should also park in the upper Wynne tiers, and will not be ticketed.
Forecasts are calling for periods of heavy wind and rain this afternoon and evening. Please be safe on campus or if you are traveling. For weather updates, please visit to the National Weather Service's site at www.weather.gov.

Longwood University will open at 12 noon tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019.
Amended hours for on-campus facilities are:
-Dorrill Dining Hall: opening at 11 a.m.
-Upchurch University Center: 10 a.m. - midnight
-Upchurch Starbucks: opening at 8 a.m.
-FarmGrille, Panda Express, Au Bon Pain, Chick-fil-A: opening at 10:30 a.m.
-Moes: opening at 11 a.m.
-Health & Fitness Center: opening at 10 a.m.
-Greenwood Library: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.
-University Health Center: opening at noon
Additional notes:
-The Farmville Area Bus for the university will begin at 11 a.m.
-Students living in Longwood Village are asked to move their vehicles to the visitors parking area.
-Students living in Lancer Park are asked to move their vehicles to either the freshman or visitors parking areas.
-The career fair scheduled for Wednesday will be postponed.
-Online housing registration will take place as planned.

Longwood is closely monitoring the winter weather that is forecast for the area this weekend, and understands that student travel back to campus may be impacted.
If you are concerned about travel during the weather, residence halls and apartment communities will be open beginning tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 11, at 1 p.m.
If you are a new student or a student conducting a mid-year room change and are planning on coming to campus on Friday, please arrive between 1-5 p.m. so we can issue your key and get you checked in.
If you are a non-enrolled student for spring semester and need to retrieve personal items, you may also arrive starting Friday at 1 p.m., or during the regularly scheduled times of 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday-Monday.

Students who remain on campus and live in Lancer Park and Longwood Village are asked to move their cars to designated areas to allow snow plows to clear lots:
Lancer Park - relocate vehicles to the Freshmen Parking Lot Area
Longwood Village - relocate vehicles to the visitor parking lot located in front of the clubhouse
Please be aware the tornado warning for Prince Edward County has been lifted. Please return to normal activities.
EMERGENCY: A tornado warning has been issued for Central Prince Edward County until 2:45 pm. Go to the tornado shelter area in the nearest building and await an all clear message.
