Campus community: The Town’s second test for water contamination was returned negative this morning, and the boil water advisory is being lifted. Thank you for your patience during this incident.

Campus community, The first water test results following the fix of the water pipe leak have been received by the Town of Farmville, and have come back negative for contamination. The next test has to be performed 24 hours after the first, and if those tests are negative as well, the boil water advisory will be lifted. Those results should be available tomorrow. Water distribution will continue in the Lewis Room in the bottom floor of D-Hall until 6 p.m. today. Water distribution will resume on Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 7 a.m.-noon.

Campus community, Water pressure has been restored across campus, though Farmville has extended the boil water advisory through at least Wednesday morning as they test water quality beginning today and again tomorrow, following Virginia Department of Health guidelines. Here is an update on campus resources: - Bottled water continues to be available in the Lewis Room on the ground floor of D-Hall. We have been able to procure more pallets of water, and are increasing the number of students distributed to each student to 4 bottles per student. - Water will be available until 6 p.m. tonight. Water distribution will reopen at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6. - D-Hall will continue to operate on normal hours. - All other dining options managed by Aramark are open on normal hours except Damore Chai, which is closed today. We will continue to communicate with you as information comes available.

Campus community: Water bottles will be available in the Lewis Room in the bottom floor of D-Hall until 9 pm tonight. Staff will resume distributing water bottles to students from 6 am - noon on Monday and will communicate with you if hours need to be extended.

Campus community: Farmville has issued a boil water advisory for all town tap water. Because of this, LUPD and the Office of Emergency Management will have bottles of water available to students who need drinking water this evening. Bottles can be picked up starting at 6 pm in the Lewis Room on the ground floor of D-Hall. Limit two bottles per student.

Campus community, Town crews have located and isolated the water leak that has caused widespread water pressure issues throughout town. Water pressure should be returning slowly over the evening and into tonight as the water tank fills back up. Crews expect full pressure at some point tomorrow. Please note that sediment in the pipes has been stirred because of the work on the pipes, and sink water may be slightly discolored this evening.

Campus community, The Town of Farmville is reporting widespread water issues across town. Areas of campus are affected, including residence halls, Lancer Park, and Midtown Landings. Currently, D-Hall is planning to continue operating on normal weekend hours today. We are staying in close contact with Town staff as they work to identify the source of the problem and restore water pressure to the community. We will update you with more information when it is available.

Update on Police Activity Tonight Farmville and LUPD received a report of a possible gunshot near Pierson Hall. An initial investigation revealed conflicting accounts of the potential source of the noise. The investigation has found that the report of a gunshot is unsubstantiated. The investigation is continuing and police will continue to monitor the area on patrol through the night.
