Longwood University campus will be closed on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, due to expected inclement weather and icy conditions. While campus is closed, classes will not be held in-person. Faculty should communicate with students about their adjustments to the class schedule, which may include meeting online or alternative assignments. Students should check their email and Canvas for communications. The Holiday Dinner and Concert scheduled for Friday evening is cancelled. Ticket holders will be contacted by the Music Department. Lancer Productions will show the movie The Breakfast Club at 6 p.m. in Soza Ballroom.

Notice: The Statewide Tornado Drill has concluded. All clear.

Campus community, The university has been informed that three of the escaped detainees from Farmville’s ICA facility are now in custody. The fourth remains at large, but police believe they are no longer in the Farmville area and campus safety remains unthreatened.

Campus community, This evening area law enforcement was made aware that four detainees at the ICA detention center in Farmville had escaped this afternoon. A multi-agency response team is considering the detainees low-risk, and has indicated they were detained for nonviolent offenses. They are all wearing bright yellow clothing. At this time there is no indication that campus safety is at risk, but out of an abundance of caution LUPD will increase patrols of campus. If you see anyone matching the description of the detainees, please call 911.
