Please be aware that Farmville Police alerted residents this morning they are actively investigating report of an alleged sexual assault in a vehicle on Garden Street. The report involves a Longwood student and a non-Longwood student.

Anyone with information about this report should call Farmville Police at 434-392-3332.

Upchurch Alarm

Longwood community,

Please be aware that a fire alarm was set off in Upchurch University Center tonight because of a duct issue. There was no actual fire. Out of an abundance of caution, fire crews are on the scene and securing the building. There are no injuries.

Incident on Main Street

Longwood community, Please be aware that LUPD responded this evening to a report of shots fired at the McDonald’s on Main Street across from campus. It was determined that an individual fired an air gun. The incident is resolved and no action is required.

Tornado Drill Ended

The national Tornado Drill is complete. All clear.

Earthquake Drill

The national Tornado Drill has begun. Please go to the tornado shelter in the nearest building and await an all clear.

Reports of vehicle break-ins

Campus community,

Farmville and Longwood police have recently responded to a number of vehicle break-ins in the Farmville area over the past week. Investigations are ongoing, and police are increasing surveillance of parking lots, including student lots. If you have a car on campus or in town, please:

- Lock your car when it’s parked
- Turn your car’s alarm on if it has one
- Make sure no valuables are in the car or in sight of passers-by

If you see anything suspicious or have knowledge that could help police in their investigations, please call LUPD at 434-395-2091 or Farmville PD at 434-392-3332.

Longwood University opening at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 21

Faculty, staff and students,

Longwood University will open at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 21, due to expected icy conditions on campus.

For 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. classes that are canceled faculty should communicate with students about their plans, which may include meeting online or alternative assignments. Students should check their email and Canvas for communications.

Amended hours for on-campus facilities are:

Longwood Dining

-Dorrill Dining Hall: open at 9 a.m.
-Moe's: regular hours
-POD: regular hours
-Greens to Go: regular hours
-Upchurch Starbucks/Au Bon Pan: open at 10 a.m.
-FarmGrille, Panda Express: regular hours
-Chick-fil-A: opening at 9 a.m.

Facilities

-Upchurch University Center: opens 10 a.m.
-Greenwood Library: opens 10 a.m.
-Health & Fitness Center: opens 10 a.m.
-University Health Center: regular hours
-Wygal Hall: opens 10 a.m.

The Farmville Area Bus Campus Line will begin running at 9 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 21.

Longwood campus closed Tuesday, Jan. 18

Faculty, staff and students,

Because of continuing icy conditions on campus, Longwood University campus will close tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 18.

In-person classes will not be held in their classrooms. Faculty should communicate with students about their plans for classes, which may include meeting online or alternative assignments. Students should check their email and Canvas for communications.

The undergraduate add/drop date will stay the same.

Amended hours for on-campus facilities are:

-Dorrill Dining Hall: open on a brunch-dinner schedule; 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 - 7 p.m.
-Moe's: open 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. with a meal swipe available
-POD: open 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. with a meal swipe available
-Greens to Go: closed
-Upchurch Starbucks: closed, opening late if possible
-FarmGrille, Panda Express, Au Bon Pain: closed, opening late if possible
-Chick-fil-A: closed, opening late if possible

Facilities

-Upchurch University Center: open 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
-Greenwood Library: open 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.
-Health & Fitness Center: closed
-University Health Center: open 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The women's basketball game vs. USC Upstate scheduled for Jan. 18 has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 19 at 3 p.m.

The Campus Line of the FAB will not run tomorrow. The FAB's Express Line will open as scheduled at noon.

Please be aware grounds staff will be plowing Lancer Park first thing in the morning. Please give them enough room to maneuver.
