Alert: Longwood Landings Fire

Campus community,

Last night lightning struck the Northeast building (Barnes & Noble building) at Longwood Landings, causing a fire shortly after 9 p.m. Longwood police were on the scene and evacuated the few students who were already in the building while fire crews arrived. The fire stayed contained to the upper floors of that buildingĀ andĀ no one was injured.

RCL staff has a plan to reassign housing for all affected students, and is working with each student individually.

The fall 2016 Fitness Center location at the Landings is opening as normal.

Opening the Longwood Bookstore is a high priority and we are confident it will re-open this week. We will notify campus when it is open.

Notice: Fire extinguished

Fire crews have extinguished the fire at Southeast Landings, and RCL is working with affected students.
