Please be aware that the Longwood Title IX Office is investigating a report of a sexual assault over the weekend in a campus residence hall involving a Longwood student.
General Safety Information
If you are the survivor of a sexual assault, you have options and help available to you. To file a criminal report of sexual assault, call Longwood Police at 434-395-2091 or dial 911. Longwood University campus will be closed tomorrow, Jan. 16.
Amended hours for on-campus facilities are:
Tonight, Jan. 15, Chick-fil-A, Moes, POD, Comma, and FarmGrill will close at 8 p.m.
Tuesday, Jan. 16, Longwood Dining hours will be:
-Dorrill Dining Hall: open on a brunch-dinner schedule; 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
-Moe’s: plan to open from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
-POD: plan to open from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
-Upchurch Starbucks: plan to open from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
-FarmGrille, Panda Express: plan to open from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
-Greens To Go: plan to open from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
-Chick-fil-A: plan to open from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
-The Comma: closed
Facilities
-Upchurch University Center: Open from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
-Greenwood Library: Open from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
-Health & Fitness Center: The Pierson Hall Fitness Center will also be closed for the day. All scheduled programs will be either canceled or postponed.
-University Health Center: Closed
-Wygal Hall: Open from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
The Farmville Area Bus will operate on a weekend schedule with the Campus Line beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Campus community,
Please be aware that this morning at 5:34 a.m. Longwood University police identified and detained one of the escaped inmates from Piedmont Regional Jail without incident. Farmville Police assisted in the arrest.
The inmate was injured and in poor health when he walked onto Lancer Park property and pulled an outdoor fire alarm. He surrendered to police and asked for medical assistance. There is no indication that he had previously been on Longwood property.
With this arrest, both escaped inmates are back in law enforcement custody and this incident is now closed.
Campus community,
An update on the ongoing investigation into the escaped Piedmont Regional Jail inmates. Law enforcement is continuing the investigation into the whereabouts of the inmates, and has not recommended that the campus community take any action beyond active awareness of the situation.
Longwood police have increased patrols of campus, have additional command staff on duty, and are keeping in close contact with other local and state law enforcement.
Police have also updated their descriptions of the suspects. One is a 26 year-old Hispanic male who is 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last known wearing gray sweatpants and a gray sweatshirt. The second is a 44-year-old white male who is also 5 feet, 6 inches tall with black hair and green eyes. He was last known wearing blue jeans, no shirt, white socks and tennis shoes. Please call police if you have any information.
